You will find traditional Martial arts instruction at our school. This is our foundation. Taekwondo and Hapkido are taught as a martial art, not a martial sport.  We teach consistently with traditional methods that are constantly evolving as we strive to provide the best quality, in-depth instruction, and training available in Taekwondo and Hapkido today.

From the beginning and throughout history, Taekwondo and Hapkido applicants, who qualified and were selected as students, were required to learn the known subjects of their time: Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, Poetry and Calligraphy.  Our school follows this same model; this is why our highest priority is placed on the cultivation of students’ character, not just kicking, punching, and acquiring new belts.

In staying with tradition, Universal Taekwondo-Hapkido students of school age are taught a system of core values, tempered by embracing strong academics. The development of accountability and responsibility for our school age Taekwondo-Hapkido students begins with a structured environment.  All school age students are required to present each and every academic report, progress report/report card, to their instructors as it becomes available to them.

Throughout history, society has held martial arts students and artists to a higher standard that developed their discipline and manner.  In the past and now in the present, the intended purpose for such high standards was for the development and cultivation of students’ character. Martial arts students are expected to become not just role models, but leaders, in all facets of their life and society.

From our Little Tigers through our adult Taekwondo and Hapkido students, you will see a consistent and graduated progression of strong discipline, organized, and consistent instruction that has been developed for the age group being taught.  After one month of becoming a Universal Taekwondo-Hapkido student, you will notice the change in yourself or your child; you will be different. After six months of becoming a Universal Taekwondo-Hapkido student, you will have evolved in a most profound way. This, however, is only the beginning of your martial arts education. Every student will continuously evolve throughout their martial arts journey. This is why Master instructor and student relationships are so important; they must be cohesive and reciprocated. We believe decorum breeds camaraderie through mutual respect.

Students at Universal Taekwondo-Hapkido should expect to be challenged and inspired as never before. Your mind, body, and spirit will be transformed as you make your martial arts journey studying Taekwondo and/or Hapkido.
